RE: stereo and mono signals
Are you getting WNEF in mono when WMWM on, and listening from Beverly? Then
the adjacent channel interference level is likely the cluprit. I usually get
even the slightest of signals in stereo, but of course the signal to noise
ratio makes it not worthwhile.
The only FM in my area that goes mono back home in Jacksonville, FL is 92.1
WJXR Macclenny, FL a rimshotter into Jax, with programming mostly home
shopping auctions at least 18 hours a day. I think they still do hoakey
country music overnights, very high compression (squashy) and remain in
mono. Principal reason is to make use of maximum listenable range. They just
barely make it to the coastline.
