WKXL expanding local talk

On October 8 WKXL (1450 Concord NH/107.7 Hillsboro NH) added a morning
hour of local talk and more changes are on the way next Monay (October
22). "The Eric Scott Show" at 9 a.m. displaced an hour of Mike
Gallagher's syndicated show. Starting Monday, the local
news-and-features block at 5 p.m. ("PM New Hampshire") is dumped in
favor of another hour of Howie Carr. Then at 6 p.m. the local sports
talk show "Sports Zone" goes daily and displaces some ESPN Radio stuff.

In recent years "The Sports Zone" has been on twice a week (Monday and
Thursday). If Mike Murphy now hosts 5 evening shows a week in addition
to his morning duties at WKXL and WOTX (102.3 Concord NH), that sounds
like an awfully unappealing split shift to me. The things some people
do for love of radio and sports!

WKXL now has a Web site: <http://www.wkxlradio.com/>. It mentions "The
Sports Zone" going back to 1994 when it started its twice-a-week
schedule, but I recall the show being tried out once a week back in the
late '80s with Jim Jeannotte and Craig Bengtson.

By the way, the WKXL logo you see on the Web site is basically the same
as the one used when the station debuted in 1946. Other logos have been
used over the years but this one was revived around the station's 50th
anniversary.
