RE: Definitive Answer
On top of Pikes Peak in Colorado is a plaque commemorating the authoring of
"America The Beautiful" by Katherine Lee Bates. She was inspired to write
it after a trip in a prairie wagon to the top of the mountain in 1893.
The City of Colorado Springs has alternatively labeled Pikes Peak as
"America's Mountain."
