A bit of historical irony there, which may have been mentioned earlier
but I haven't seen it...

It was NBC/RCA which kicked Major Armstrong's experimental FM facilities
out of the Empire State Building, in favor of their own experimental TV
equipment.  I believe that's when Armstrong decided to build the tower
at Alpine, to continue his FM work.
