Reminds me of the Manchester market years ago....

Right after the Spring book (they only had *one* book), all three AM
stations would put an ad in the Manchester Union-Leader claiming to be #1.

Each would print some extrapolation of the Manchester book...showing some
demo/daypart, ect that made them look good....with the  headline "Thanks for
Making us #1!"...or "We're #1 Again!" "#1 in the Morning", etc.

Channel 4 claims to be the #1 newscast in America, etc. (I think technically
this alludes to some journalistic study of standards, etc...that someone did
osomewhere and Ch 4 actually came out on top.)

I think the point was to confuse people...and make some kind of impression
on unwitting people.  I think there are some people who will hear Ch 4's ad
and think they are #1 in the ratings...i.e..the most viewers.
