Hearst has been cutting back since they took over 31 so this is no shock.

WPTZ has taken the same approach that Gannett has with 6 in Portland and 2
in Bangor going for the statewide show. That wouldn't work with Mass and NH 

WMUR is a cash cow now, they won't change a thing because if they did
Channel 50 would pounce.
