Re: BBC WS stops shortwave broadcasts to US (foolish)
Hi Pat and crew:
The SAP is the Secondary Audio Program. It is
piggybacked on any TV station that transmits in Stereo
(for the most part). For example, here in Boston, if
you have a Stereo TV or a Stereo VCR, simply select
the proper audio on the receiver. Stations running are
WGBH-TV/Channel 2, WGBX-TV/Channel 44, WSBE-TV/Channel
36 (Providence) and WFXT-TV/Channel 25
On WGBH-TV/Channel 2 you can hear the BBC on
Channel 2's SAP. On sister-station WGBX-TV/Channel 44
you can hear the Talking Information Center
(programming for the blind or visually impaired). On
WFXT-TV/Channel 25 ("Fox/25") during FOX Baseball
Games, select the SAP for the Spanish version on the
game. Same idea at KTLA/Channel 5 in Los Angeles, to
listen to Dodgers Baseball en Espanol, just select the
SAP and there you have it (it is also available with
C-Band or digital satellite systems.
