Well, besides being north of Baltimore, isn't Harrisburg
slightly west? That would put it in WBAL's null, albeit
not deep within it. I suspect that the groundwave
component of WBAL's night signal in Harrisburg is
significantly lower than the daytime groundwave signal
there. Ever listen when WBAL switches to night pattern
or comes back on ND in the morning? I imagine that
you'll find the difference in signal strength
immediately apparent unless you're using a very good
radio with very good AGC and a very good antenna.
As for WTIC, you're also in its null when it's running
night pattern. WTIC's null toward KRLD isn't nearly as
deep as WBAL's null toward Little Rock and Tijuana,
however and WTIC doesn't switch to night pattern until
Dallas sunset.
Of all New England AMs, only WBZ is directionalized to
the west at night.
