Re: Nail in streaming's coffin

I listened to Thursday's Rockies-Cardinals baseball game at mlb.com,
using Clear Channel KOA's feed. Some ads were streamed, others were
replaced by a voice saying "break number 17" (or whatever number break
it was) and 30 seconds of canned crowd noise. Not exactly pleasant
listening, but an effective stopgap. Guess the ads that got through must
have featured non-AFTRA talent.

Anyone else remember the way AFRTS used to handle baseball? Between
innings and during pitching changes, some staff sergeant would run down
the league schedule, yesterday's results, top 10 hitters -- anything to
fill that break. Maybe MLB could record a bunch of 30-, 60- and
90-second fillers like that every day and plug them into the feeds.
