Re: NHPR has successful fund raiser after schedule change

Yes Dan, MPR "says" they had a successful drive; reportedly raising
$168,000. That was the last I heard the other day.

Their last-minute changes and dropping some of the talk may have saved
their butt. Still they only added one hour of music in the afternoon
from 3-4, much of it canned schlock like Schickele Mix. Probably the
smartest thing they did was put the Met. Opera back on. And they did
restore a couple of programs I really liked.

On a somewhat related note, this week's
Bar Harbor Times has a front page story on the upcoming change of WMDI
107.7 to WBQI "W-BACH", as well as numerous ads with their programming
schedule. For the past few days WMDI is just running open carrier, and
dead air. Although I haven't been listening regularly to see if they are
in fact doing Hourly-IDs. I guess techincally they are broadcasting
illegally if they dont do the hourly ID.

The article also mentions theat they are on low power of only 750 watts
from their Mountain-top site in Sullivan. They hope to increase power to
25,000 watts eventually.
