Re: RE: Tunnel Radio or AMs in South Station Tunnel

I would not be too surprised to learn that WEZE 590 is almost as strong as
WBZ in the South Station area. Yes we're talking 5 kW from
less-than-90-degree towers vs 50 kW from greater-than-half-wave towers, but
we're also talking about directional patterns for both stations that send
the strongest signal in the direction of South Station, and a pretty solid
salt-water path to South Station for both signals. (OK, the path for WBZ is
better, and since it _IS_ salt water, the difference in frequencies, which
normally favors the lower-frequency station, is of little importance.) Most
of all, isn't the straight-line distance from Hull to South Station a lot
greater than the straight-line distance from Wellington Circle to South
Station? I think it must be something like 8 miles for WBZ vs about 3 miles
for WEZE. Somebody can check a map and tell me if I'm wrong. No map is handy
here at the moment.
