WMDI. WQDY & WSHD

According to previous news items, the new WBQI will increase its' power
up to 25,000 watts. Although WMDI's present signal barely reaches
Bangor, with the power increase the signal should get out better. They
do transmit from atop 1200-foot Peaked Mountain in Sullivan; But, much
of Bangor is in a valley, so many listeners may have trouble picking it
up. And with "Z-107" WBZN 107.3 so close on the dial, many receivers may
not be selective enough to separate the two stations.

Way down-east on the Saint Croix River WQDY AM/FM (and simulcast WALZ
Machias) have shifted from its' long-time locally originated Adult
Contemp/Country mix to its' new Classic Hits format. Sounds like they
also dropped their morning call-in show.

They are calling themselves "The new Classic Hits 92.7 , 95.3" . Their
legal ID on the hour is now "WQDY AM&FM Calais Maine, Saint Stephen
New Brunswick and WALZ FM Machias Maine" WQDY AM-1230 simulcasts most of
the time except when they break away for local school sports and Calais
City Council Meetings.

Did not hear WSHD FM 91.7 Eastport on the air even though I drove right
past Shead High School on a school day,
