Well, I never DID find out yet where "Down East" starts.   From Rod's 
comment, maybe it's just east of Bath, across the river in Woolwich.   
Actually, the point at which Route 1 starts heading actually "east" is 
Brunswick (8 miles west of Bath).
So perhaps Bath is in Down East Country.    Hey, that's a great slogan for a 
country station up there!
