 I remember 1150/WMEX. They had a bit more of a playlist,IIRC, with a
little more emphasis on the 50's and early 60's (pre-British Invasion era),
but despite the fact that they did some promotion of the format via print
ads, taxi and bus ads, lots of bumper stickers, and a good airstaff, they
were hampered by poor ratings and the directional 5K signal that couldn't
cover all of the Metro Boston area as Oldies 103.3 does.At night,1150 was
pretty much non-existent up here in the Merrimack Valley.IIRC, their night
pattern also misses much of the North Shore (Dan Strassberg I'm sure can/
will clarify if I'm mistaken).

I made mention of the great airstaff. They had Scott Roberts (now
weekend/fill at Oldies 103.3) in morning drive, Michael "B" (Michael Burns,
now overnights at WMJX, as well as host of "Sunday Morning Country Oldies"
on WKLB) did middays, and "The Famous" Jim Sands (now Saturday nights at
Oldies 103.3) in PM drive. That was the lineup when the format changed to
business news/talk in 1989.
