OSHA Fines WCAP For Workplace Safety Violations

According to an article in today's ( 8/24) Lowell Sun, WCAP (980 Lowell MA)
has been fined $1500 by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA), the federal agency that oversees workplace safety issues. The
article ststes that OSHA investigators paid two visits to WCAP's studios in
July and as a result of those two visits, cited WCAP for five serious
violations of workplace safety regulations, including emergency exits not
fully accessible in case of fire or emergency, exits or access to exits not
marked by readily visible signs, flexible cords and cables used for
purposes prohibited by OSHA, specifically, flexible cords used to supply
power to equipment were used as a substitute for fixed wiring, and these
cords run through holes, flooring, and attached to building surfaces.
Station owner Maurice Cohen claims that a disgruntled employee who was
refused a pay raise sabotaged station equipment and then complained to OSHA
. A hearing will be held next Tuesday to hear WCAP's side of the story.

I don't know if this story is or will be posted on the Lowell Sun's
website, the URL for which is www.lowellsun.com.
