Believe it or don't, hypocrisy (or scruples, depending on which side you 
are on) is not recent, and is not just something so-called hippie stations 
did.  Way back in the old conservative days, as far back as the 1930s in 
fact, many stations refused to take liquor ads (not even beer), which I 
found especially amusing given that some of those GMs absolutely used the 
product themselves... yet they would place ads every year in the Radio 
Annual saying they did not take any ads that were not "family 
friendly."  Go figure...
