Alex Dreier, RIP



Alex Dreier, who had a nightly presence on ABC's Newscope in the 
1960s---"Alex Dreier News and Commentary"---died Sunday at the age of 83 in 
California. Dreier, whose delivery was so rich that he was known as "The 
Voice," will be remembered for an award-winning commentary on the plight of 
the Jews that he delivered after the 1967 Six-Day War. His career stretched 
back to coverage of Nazi Germany, from which he was expelled with other 
Western journalists in 1941. From the late 1940s to the mid 60s, he was 
based in Chicago, first with NBC, then ABC. He moved to Los Angeles in 
1967, and retired in 1992.
