Re: WPTR's signal?

Hello.
Well, returning from Loon Mountain this evening, I was listening to
WPTR and it seems to me that the CHIN angle is most correct. In the
70's, there was nothing behind WPTR that I ever remember hearing, and
the modulation level was great at splashing 1530-1550, but now, that
hardly happens. The best signal level on I93 south from Loon to MA
was just south of Manchester NH into the Derry area. Loud and no
signal underneath, like the old days with just a little bit of phase
fading. Then it became bad again with a very shaky sound from another
signal beneath it. After reading the CHUM information posted from
Mr. Peter Q. George, it makes more sense to me. I would suppose the
combination of a competing signal, lower modulation and a decaying
ground system has made it's dullable impression on this New England
facing spotlight signal. Its unfortunate, especially since the
reinventing of WPTR. I also, have used the vacant WQEW preset for
WPTR and am enjoying this station very much, when it comes in.
