and one would think that with all of the time they've had to prepare for a 
new station launch, that the engineer (the venerable Gene Terwilliger) would 
not be required to enter and do that bit of magic he does (with only a 
curling iron and a roll of duct tape) while Ms. V is trying to figure out why 
a mic that was working is not working, live.  i will say she put together a 
couple of promos that were cute.  (one involving her salary issue, which was 
played out a couple of times in the paper, and another giving a wink and a 
nod to her "old" partner)
i did have the opportunity to hear the first couple of hours today while 
prepping the house for the visit to which we all look forward each year:  
yes, the in-laws.
