More on WWLP

Here is exactly what's happening...

Benedek Broadcasting Corp. (Rockford IL.)wants WOWT (06, NBC, Omaha, NE) and
KAKE (10, Wichita KS), which costs $141mil. Benedek Can't afford that.

LIN Television's going to purchase these two stations.

In a trade agreement, Benedek is going to give LIN, WWLP{22 NBC Springfield}
(worth $123mil) and $18 to cover the remaining expenses, in return for WOWT
and KAKE .


Engineering from LIN and WTNH (8 ABC New Haven)is going to be assisting WWLP
with the move to Chicopee and possibly even start some news partnerships.


The over all feeling is everyone is real happy to see this come. Benedek is
a real penny pinching company and likes to cut corners. LIN appears to be a
much better company which will give WWLP much better treatment than Benedek
did (IMHO).
