What Dave said is correct. The sun is directly inline behind the satellite and the earth. We have a fool proof way of checking this. When we are getting a "sun fade", we go out and look at the satellite dish, if the shadow of the feedhorn is right in the center of the dish, then you will get a sunfade.


All the major networks have/use a second satellite as a back
up should this occur at some of its affiliates.
