Re: NHPR goes north of Pinkham Notch

It was back in May that NHPR announced it was acquiring "WXLQ in
Berlin."  The September member newsletter contains more information
about the purchase.  It doesn't say exactly how much they paid but
mentions a capital campaign to raise $175K has been launched.  "Each
dollar raised above the minimum goal of $175,000 will help to reduce
financing costs for the balance of the purchase price."  The article,
which keeps referring to the "Berlin" station although WXLQ is licensed
to Gorham, says the NHPR broadcast on 107.1 should begin this month.  It
also mentions that having WXLQ will allow NHPR to build a translator in
Littleton.

I believe it's been mentioned elsewhere, but I'll add here that 'GBH
("The Members' Magazine") mentions the Cape and Islands stations WCAI
(90.1) and WNAN (91.1) should be on the air in January.
