The term "smooth jazz" is really a marketing term.
Folks who really enjoy traditional jazz tend to 
very much dislike "smooth jazz" because it isn't
"pure".

Really, to me, what's called "smooth jazz" is really
just contemporary instrumentals that just happen
to use many of the same instruments that traditional
jazz uses.

Oh, WPLM was mostly satellite programmed, wasn't
it? And, did't they have a signal problem in large portions
of the Boston area? Just wondering.
