Only problem with WEVD is that about 70 percent of their weekday broadcast
day is taken up by leased access programming - mostly infomercials for
quack medicines.  

There is an effort by the station to very slowly turn itself into a "real"
talk station.  Changing the station's monkier from "New York's Greater
1050" to "THE talk station, news/talk 1050, WEVD" i think is among those
moves. Also add to that the fact that Jay Diamond's show was lengthened
from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and also Sam Greenfield was imported roughly a bit
more than a month ago from some radio station in Las Vegas.

It's going to be slow, but awakening a sleeping giant usually is...
