No, definitely not. At least some of them used pseudonyms, though I don't
know whether they all did. But they didn't use house names at WCOP. Each
had a name, and when they got a new DJ, they got a new name. I even
remember a contest to find a name for their new DJ (Ed Mitchell).
Around that time, Bill Buchanan's column in the Daily Record frequently
used to criticize Top 40 radio, and Buchanan often delighted in
complaining about pseudonyms (and often revealed real names), but for some
reason, he directed his anger more at WMEX than at WCOP.
Perhaps some people around here can tell us whether Paul Knight, Bill
Clark, Paul Koss, Tom Evans, Joe Hyder, Roger Allen -- those are the names
I remember from those times -- were pseudonyms or real names.
