Just the other day I was thinking about Jack Paar, and it came to mind
that the History Of Broadcasting In Maine mentioned he owned WMTW-FM
and TV (the FM is now WHOM) from Mt. Washington, N.H. They say he
owned it during the 1960's. This inspired me to make a list of
celebrities who owned, or do own, radio stations. I started a list
down below, and if others would like to add to it or make corrections,
that would be nice. Asterisks indicate past owners.
Pat Sajak: WNAV, Annapolis, Md.
*"Buffalo" Bob Smith (of Howdy Doody): WMKR (now WSYY), WHOU, and
WQDY, all in Maine.
*Charles Kuralt, WELY, Ely, Mn.
Susan Saint James (of Kate and Allie): WZBG, Litchfield, Me.
Stevie Wonder, KJLH, Compton/Los Angeles, Ca.
Stephen King, WZON/WKIT, Bangor, Me.
These are all the ones I can think of right now.
