More WLLH/WCCM News

I heard a promo on WLLH today, featuring longtime WLLH staffers Bob Ellis
and Frank Sunday.Bob tells us that soon he will be bringing us the news of
Greater Lowell and the Merrimack Valley on the "New Radio 800 WCCM".Frank
then jumps in to tell one and all that the "Music,Memories and More" that
you've enjoyed on WLLH will soon be heard on the "New Radio 800 WCCM". Also
coverage of the community events that WLLH has brought us for many years (
Lowell City Golf Tournament,Lowell Folk Festival,Lowell Spinners Baseball)
will be heard on WCCM.The date for the change to WCCM will be announced
soon, they assure us.I did bump into Bob Ellis last week,BTW.He informed me
that the FCC comment window closed on 4/7.and that he expects the sale to
be approved and the signing on the dotted line by Mega to occur anytime
soon after that. The rumblings he hears suggest that this Friday April 16
could be the last day for WLLH's standards format. It's possible that Mega
may enter into an LMA to start it's programming after that till the sale
is approved, but again this is only rumor.Another possibility suggested is
that the standars may run jockless after Friday till the transfer to Mega.
Also, yesterday on WLLH " Mediterannean Melodies" had it's final airing. This
Sunday morning tradition in the Merrimack Valley first aired on June
5,1966.Bill Themelis had been the host for the almost 33 year run of the
program. Also, all other Sunday leased time shows aired for the last time on
WLLH yesterday. As of this time,"The Sounds of Ireland" show is the only
WLLH leased time show to find another radio home.It will debut on WCAP this
Sunday 4/18.
