WKCG/WCTB Frequency Switch

The switch took place yesterday with no format changes. 101.3 now has the
River's former AC format as "Star 101."

There is a good story about the switch in today's Kennebec Journal. Read it
at: http://www.centralmaine.com/030299/news04.html

Apparently Cumlus controls 93.5 as well as Sports Talk combo 107.9 WHQO and
WSKW-AM through an LMA. The story says that WHQO is likely to be sold soon,
but that Cumulus expects to keep the Sports station on both AM & FM. I expect
that means that Sports will show up on WIGY Madison and the simulcast with
WABK will end.

Interesting note: to make the change, the stations actually switched
physically with the staff and programming of WCTB moving to Gardiner and WKCG
moving to Skowhegan. The article says that Cumulus wants to have all the
stations in one location at some time in the future. A new facility in
Augusta would make sense.
