Which is the great advantage of the small station owner. As the sole
stockholder, you can do what you want. And that, of course, is the tragedy
of the Communications Act of 1996, that it makes such ownership so much
less possible.
BTW, you were talking on Sunday about another one-person station up in
Maine, where the guy intends to play a lot of 78s. And you were wondering
how he will ever manage to do it. Ever year of an automatic changer? I
don't suppose they were ever set up for radio station use, but if he's got
78 RPM equipment, I wouldn't be surprised if he could set up a changer or
two, so that he could run multiple records.
Did it actually say that he wasn't going to use automated equipment? He
could certainly program from 78s and still record them onto tape of some
sort -- even VCRs as you use, or a computer hard drive, if he wants to
spend the money on one.
