The All New WMEX

Lucky me, I just came upon a couple of segments of two Arnie Ginsburg shows
from early 1961-- one has the "We're Gonna Rock Down to Mal's" commercial
and the introduction of the Ginsburger! But the station is being called
"The All New WMEX"-- okay, stations can call themselves 'new' for years, I
suppose, but had WMEX recently changed format or added different jocks? It
was my impression that they went top 40 around 1959 (the Richmond Brothers
bought the station in the summer of1958), which would make me wonder why
in February of 1961, they would still be calling themselves 'new'. Had
Arnie just joined them, perhaps-- although I thought he joined them in
1960... anyone remember? I was a WCOP fan and had listened to Arnie on the
old WBOS, so not knowing at the age of 13 that I would someday care deeply
about who did what on what date and for what station, I didn't make a
mental note of it... anyone else have a chronology on who worked at WMEX
before Arnie got there or why they might be calling themselves All New in
early 1961?
