I see how the "Granite & Ether" Appendix (pp.98-99) could be misleading.
It doesn't say WKBR signed on at 1250...those columns list data which
isn't necessarily related. Most of the early stations operated on
several frequencies at one time or the other. For the purposes of that
Appendix, though, frequencies listed are the ones which the stations were
best known for. In most cases that was the last frequency used if the
station is no longer extant.
We could have had a column for "original frequency," like we did for
"original calls" but the list would have gotten way too big for the page.
