I knew the owner was Harvey <something>. I remember the station. Most awful,
unprofessional radio I had ever heard (and may _still_ have ever heard) on
an allegedly commercial station. I seem to recall that Sheldon was a
vegetarian and a health nut. He sounded like a young guy, with what _he_
thought was a good sense of humor. I find it hard to believe that anyone
could have agreed with him about his sense of humor. He gave the impression
of having come into some money and was living his dream by putting a radio
station on the air. He talked about alternative-health issues on the radio
decades before it became fashionable. But then, Carlton Fredericks was doing
that in the 40s.

But WUP_I_? Maybe. After he got the Lynn station on the air (TX was in
Saugus, I believe), Sheldon also put an FM in Miami FL on the air. The Miami
station may even have been a full Class B (95.7 sticks in my mind, but it
could be a complete figment of my imagination). There was some messing
around with calls, too, but I can't remember the exact scenario. Could be
that the Miami station signed on as WUPI and took the WUPY calls when the
Lynn station folded. Or maybe the two stations swapped calls and _then_ the
Lynn station folded. Lynn would have been WUPI at the time of its demise--if
I've got the story right. I doubt very much whether the Lynn station
survived for as long as two years, but the Miami station was on for a
somewhat longer period and Sheldon may actually have sold it and not just
turned in the license, which is what he must have done with the Lynn
station. Or maybe he even _lost_ the license for some infraction.
