This is already happening in places like LA, New York and Miami, three markets
that have multiple Spanish stations, many on full-signal FM frequencies and
scores of others on medium and low powered AM's. In NY and LA, Spanish
stations are some of the most highly rated in their markets. Look how well
Heftel is doing as a strictly Spanish language broadcaster. As whites flee
the major cities and minorities become the majorities, look for more big city
signals to flip to Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, etc. It's been shown that
these formats can bring in big ratings and revenue in the right markets, and
we all know that these days, radio is all about making a buck.
