Re: Upton Bell Firing Article



Is this what radio is going to come to, you want to be on the radio, you
sell the time and pay the ownership a rental fee for the time your on the
air?  If so, all we will have is infomercials such as is on channel 60.
This is a sorry state to come to, and the only way to correct it is to
review the communications act again and go back to a certain amount of
ownership in a market, like no more then 2 AMs, 2FMs and 1 TV per market.
This will put local back into the relm of radio once again.  Will it be
profitable to those corporations that have bought everything is sight?
Maybe, maybe not, that is the gamble they took, but it will return radio to
a local outlook, rather than a corporate outlook and the locals be damned
attitude by the BIG corporations in this arena of broadcasting.
