Re: NESN's future in doubt....

In a message dated 98-07-01 20:52:36 EDT, you write:

<< But as always the Red Sox have a new suitor, and this one is loaded. The
Hearst Corp (along with partner MediaOne) has expressed interest in
placing the Sox on NECN (yes New England Cable News), with some games then
being shown on WCVB. NECN which has been invisable for most of its 6 1/2
years just might be a good fit for the old towne team as it is now
available in a good chunk of the 6 state region. >>

I will be glad to see NSEN go. One regional sports network taking up channel
space on the cable box is enough. There is only enough decent programming for
one network.

If NECN adds the Red Sox it will give many cable systems a major reason to add
the network. It is not on most cable systems in Maine and I seem to remember
somebody writing here that it is not on many systems in Vermont. If they add
the Red Sox, the network will instantly be added to all cable systems in New
England, which will make it easier for Hearst to sell ads during the rest of
their schedule.
