WKVT-AM has been carrying Met. Opera for many years (I don't know exactly
how many, at least ten). Board op. duties for this program at WKVT are
performed by my (now retired) tenth grade English teacher and
self-proclaimed opera nut George Lewis. For the last several years he's been
threatening that "this will be his last year," but he keeps coming back,
year after year. The decision was made to move this Saturday's Sox game to
the FM after last week the station received several calls from angry
listeners wanting to know where their Sox game was last weekend. It wasn't
on TV up here (no ch. 68 and ch. 31 was airing infomercials). It is my
understanding that this is the last week when there is a scheduling conflict
between opera and baseball.
