I found it interesting that WOKQ/WPKQ was playing Tammy Wynette all day today
when she would never make their regular playlist. I realize that she WAS a
huge country star, but she had not had a hit in 20 years. WOKQ (and nearly
all of today's country stations) ignore anything more than a couple of years
old, but apparently if someone dies they make the playlist for a day. Would
WBCN play Chuck Berry each hour for a day if he (God forbid) died? I don't
think so.
Don & Mike (carried locally on WZAN) played the Blues Brothers version of
"Stand by Your Man" as a tribute today. It was very fitting for their show.
My favorite version of the song was of course the Lyle Lovett version.
