Subject: Re: Classical FM in New Hampshire.

The idea for a commercial classical station in the Hanover, New Hampshire
 area MIGHT actually make sense.

While it's true that New Hampshire Public Radio (WEVO, et. al) does run
some music programming, it's no secret that an increasing number of NPR
stations (e.g. Oregon Public Radio, Oklahoma City and Boston's WBUR-FM,
as some examples) have drastically cut back or even eliminated music
and arts programming in favor of news and information. Perhaps the owner
of this station (and the new 720 AM) believes that NHPR will eventually
elimininate music/arts programming for news and information, especially
as that's what brings in the pledges.

I personally believe NPR should get off it's duff and start a second network
with music and arts programming (leaving their current network as 24/7 news
and information) on a 24 hours/7 days basis, and try to sign-up affiliates
as soon as possible. While I think that there might be no more than 25 to 50
affiliates for this NPR "music/performing arts network", I feel that if they
don't move quickly, they will find their music and arts programming shut out
of nearly all of the affiliates of their current NPR network.
