The station went on the air as WSAR way back in late 1921, owned by an
electric supplies company (Doughty & Welch).  I don't ever recall their
changing calls, but then, I was out of town for a prolonged period of time
during the 1970s, so maybe they temporarily did so, but I can't find it in
any of my call books...
