My note concerning station locations was written when the other posts
were listing. Due to mail problems it didn't make it to the list until
yesterday. In the meantime I noted and acknowledge the other posts on
the subject, and forward this FYI.
The article I spoke of is undated (mine is a photocopy). Its heading -
"Boston TV turns 30...and here's how it was", written by Anthony
LaCamera, Television Editor. I would date it about June 8, 1978.
The reference concerning WBZ-TV follows:
"For the first dozen days, before the present Allston facilities on
Soldiers Field rd. (lower case accurate) became available, Channel 4's
local program ming (space intentional) from the Hotel Bradford, then the
WBZ radio headquarters.
"SAT ON KEG OF NAILS
" "Still, the new building wasn't ready,' (Arch) MacDonald recalls. "I
sat on a keg of nails to do a newscast - after telling carpenters to
stop hammering and sawing until I was through.' "
(end article excerpt.)
I'll make a copy for anyone interested in the entire article.
