RE>WBOS.....
For the longest time BOS had a neat "early warning system" that let you know
when a jock was about to speak. As soon as the board mike was keyed in, there
was this tremendous hum in the system.

'BOS was the "Rock Boss" as they said when they dumped the AC soft
rock format in very early 1982. We all remember the Mighty 'COZ (94 and
a half FM)....."Kick Ass Rock and Roll". It was monotonous, same old
liner cards "94 and a half 'COZ, with fewer commercials and NO DISCO",
"94 and a half 'COZ, Kick Ass Rock and Roll", "Don't forget the new
'COZ belt-buckle, available at Strawberries or give us a call here at
'COZ". It burned itself out. Well, not to be undone....WBOS countered
with "Are you SICK of having your ass-kicked ? Tune Monday morning at
6:00 am for the new Rock 92.9, WBOS...the Rock Boss".
Face it WCOZ was a great album station in the beginning. But when
they played the same "Alabama Get Away" or "Stairway To Heaven" three
to four times a day...even the most diehard Zeppelin fan would say.....
"Enough is enough". When Sebastian took over in the late 70's, the
stations' personality disappeared into liner card heaven. Every jock
could only say the liner card and could not backsell the tunes. The
commercial-free weekend was nothing but a jukebox. Oh, well....'COZ
is no more. Ironically, 94.5 is playing the music that 'COZ dissed.

"94 and a half.....WCOZ/Boston......Kick Ass Rock and Roll"........

Oh, what memories.
