All this discussion of who did rock first in Albany made me wonder, when did
WBZ switch to top 40? I know they were doing it by the summer of '62,
because I definitely recall hearing Loco-Motion by Little Eva there, and
Whitburn sez it was the summer of '62. I heard a tape of 'BZ from around
'60 or '61 and they sounded pretty MOR-ish...though in that era it was
sometimes hard to tell...Top 40s played a lot of really MOR stuff then. I
was wondering when the big switch took place. Was it gradual (ie playing
rock at night only) or was there a big switch. I'm sure the success of WMEX
was a key factor in the decision.
