Robin Young on WBZ Radio & TV...

Was anyone else a fan of Robin Young when she had a 1-5 am Sunday show
on WBZin the mid-70s? I was. I remember her breaking format regularly
with songs like Van Morrison's "Caravan," Cat Stevens' "King of Trees"
and her signoff theme "Icarus," by the Paul Winter Consort.
It was so different from what BZ was doing the rest of the time. Looking
back, I
wonder (a.) how she landed the BZ gig straight out of Ithaca College (I know
she
was working in production at TV38 at the time, too, but that explains
nothing.)
and (b.) how she managed to add to the BZ playlist so freely.

And then went on to get a multi-zillion dollar deal with Channel 7. One that
she said even surprised her and Bob Woolfe!

I loved her on Evening Magazine....

But her career may have peaked out too early. She was rushed to the top of
her field....and maybe now she is happy doing the work she's doing....but I
would love to see her do more airwork...either TV or radio.

I heard she's producing some TV shows....I think I saw her once on the
H&G-Home & Garden Channel. (Seems like that work is beneath her, no?)

But from what I hear she is doing..."Whatever she wants". Apparently money
is no longer an issue...

Any other old RY fans out there?
