I've noticed in this election that several TV stations and newspapers seem to have a new 
convention for abbreviating the names of the political parties.  They were always Dem  and 
Rep.  Now a number of newspapers and TV stations abbreviate them as Dem and GOP.  
Anyone know what this is about?
