Re: Lowell Folk Fest - Radio/update

Scanning around throughout the afternoon today - WCAP's signal improved to
contender status when they apparantly switched to a different RPU. Their
JFK Plaza site (they planned two stages) could not get on due to tech.
problems with the mobile studio, so kept it at Boardinghouse Park. (A
back-backup vintage tube job saved the day!) WJUL shifted from JFK, where
they were all afternoon (only radio station b'casting from there all day) to
the only evening stage, Boardinghouse Park. With WGBH packed up the the
weekend (no Sunday coverage) and alongside WLLH, WJUL had the edge with its
very clear RPU signal and no station breaks. Mono feed from the site, the
station dumped the stereo gen. (perhaps for incr. coverage?) It was good to
hear dueling hosts at WJUL, one in English and the other in Spanish, both
balancing well but with that unpredictable college radio thing you can't
capture to the right of 91.9 very often.
